Immersing The Senses

As the weather is colder with crips air hitting your face, notice where in your body the cold slightly numbs you yet refocuses the senses.

There is a more controlled method to engaging the senses while providing the benefits to your mental and physical well being. I am talking about cold plunges.

Cold plunging is a pool or bath set to 50 degrees fahrenheit and at times 38 degrees fahrenheit. You are to take initiative and go straight into the water following the initial shock to the body. That is your flight, fight, freeze, pr fawn response. You will have the instinct to get out immediately but as you join in on harmonizing your humming with others in the water with you, your body will ease. Trust yourself to maintain the willpower to sit through the feelings arising.

Cold plunges will be an immersive experience of 2 minutes as starting time. The benefits of cold plunging range from:

  • reducing inflammation and muscle soreness
  • improved recovery and physical performance
  • shift In moof and focus

In a recent study by Stanford (2021), Researchers recruited undergraduates students to get in 56 degree sea water for 20 minutes and each describe their emotions during the day prior to going into the water. After the study concluded, Researchers found students sharing a decrease in tension, anger, depression, and fatigue.
