Somatic Therapy

we have been taught to soothe our systems for centuries. There has been a connection with orienting self toward focus on bodily sensations arising during recalling memories.

The body stores memories around parts of ourselves. the term somatic is defined as "relating to the body, especially as distinct from the mind". There are different forms of practices that will engage in reducing tnesion. The first mechanism is grounding technique which involves immersing yourself in surfaces of the earth, being barefoot or hands touching different elemenets of the earth. it brings awareness to staying present. Breathwork is another form soothing... an example is practicing on placing your palsm to your chest and breathing in from the diaphragm. inhaling through the nose and exhaling through the mouth slowly. In most meditative spaces you enter, you'll learn to body scan... focusing on the aches trying to show up in the body.

ask yourself, when you are at rest... are you really allowing yourself to release and remove the guard you held all day?
